Savor the Seasons

As we near the end of August I find myself feeling a slight sadness since I know summer's days are limited. Living in New England you really learn to savor each season while it lasts. This summer has seemed especially short to me since we had weeks and weeks of nearly non-stop rain. In addition to the rain, the thunderstorms that visited us on countless days really kept us cooped up in the house. But as disappointing as all the wet weather was, it has helped me to appreciate the gorgeous days that followed.

This is a photo of my son Pearce enjoying a sunny summer day at the park with his good friend Grace. I just love this photo. I think they look so relaxed and content to be spending time together on a beautiful day. The irony is, when I snapped this photo they were in the middle of a dispute over who could sit on this specific spot on a very enormous rock!

With just over a week to go until Labor Day (the unofficial end of summer) I feel the need to pack as much summer fun into the rest of the month as I possibly can. We went to the town beach yesterday, and plan to go again in a couple of days. We've got a cook out planned. And, I'm trying to figure out how to squeeze one last trip up to Maine into our busy schedule.

Living in New England is as unique as the seasons. With summers passing, not only do I feel sadness, but I feel great anticipation. My favorite season, fall, is just around the corner.

What a beautiful pic. Cherish those years as they will grow up fast!
Have a great week!
